Healey sues Uber, Lyft; companies vow to fight

Attorney General Maura Healey is suing Uber and Lyft, asking the courts to declare that drivers are employees of the transportation tech giants, rather than independent contractors — a suit the companies are vowing to fight. “Uber and Lyft have gotten a free ride for far too long,” Healey insisted in a virtual news conference on Tuesday, announcing the suit in Suffolk Superior Court. “These drivers are employees under Massachusetts law.”
